APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

For all programs, applicants must have a minimum score of 70 from the numerical section of the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES-SAY), or at least 680 (old scale) / 153 (new scale) from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Quantitative section, or a minimum score of 500 from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
Applicants to the Integrated PhD program with a bachelor’s degree must have at least 80 from ALES-SAY, or at least 720 (old scale) / 156 (new scale) from the GRE Quantitative section, or a minimum score of 590 from the GMAT, and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0/4.0.

For applicants who are graduates of a Doctorate / Proficiency in Arts / Medical Specialization / Dentistry Specialization / Veterinary Specialization / Pharmacy Specialization program, the ALES requirement is waived in PhD applications, and their ALES score is considered as 75.
ALES, GRE and GMAT scores are valid for five (5) years from the date of announcement of the exam results.

The criteria required for applications to our graduate programs also apply to international applicants. However, applicants who do not have a GRE Quantitative score at the time of application may be granted conditional admission for two (2) semesters, and their registration is completed. Applicants who fail to submit an acceptable GRE score within two (2) semesters will be dismissed from the University. This rule equally applies to Turkish citizens who completed their entire undergraduate education abroad.

Language Requirements and Minimum Scores for Master’s Programs

– AGU IMS: (Passing the English Proficiency Exam administered by AGU School of Foreign Languages)

– YDS, e-YDS, YÖKDİL, e-YÖKDİL: Minimum score of 80 (Valid for two (2) years from the exam date)

– TOEFL iBT: Minimum overall score of 80 (with at least 22 in Writing) (Valid for two (2) years from the exam date)

– Applicants who apply to a Master’s program within at most four (4) semesters after graduating from an undergraduate program at AGU are exempt from the English proficiency requirement.

– For graduates of fully English-taught undergraduate programs at other universities, exemption from the English proficiency requirement is determined by the Senate, based on the recommendation of the relevant Department and the approval of the Graduate School Board.

– Applicants without a language certificate may still apply to Master’s programs. If they are found successful in the interviews, they may be granted conditional admission. Applicants who submit one of the above-mentioned valid language exam scores may register for the following academic term. Those who fail to submit such a score are granted an additional period of one (1) year.

ASSESSMENT OF APPLICATIONS

In converting GPAs from the 4.0 grading system to the 100-point system, the conversion table prepared by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) will be used.

For Master’s program applications, the placement score is calculated by evaluating: – 50% of the relevant ALES score, – 15% of the undergraduate GPA, and – 35% of the interview score. To be considered successful, the total evaluation score must be at least 75 out of 100.

For PhD program applications (with a thesis-based Master’s degree), the placement score is calculated by evaluating: – 50% of the relevant ALES score, – 10% of the undergraduate GPA, – 10% of the Master’s GPA, and – 30% of the interview score. To be considered successful, the total evaluation score must be at least 75 out of 100.

For Integrated PhD program applications (with a bachelor’s degree), the placement score is calculated by evaluating: – 50% of the relevant ALES score, – 15% of the undergraduate GPA, and – 35% of the interview score. To be considered successful, the total evaluation score must be at least 75 out of 100.

For international applicants, the higher education institutions from which they have graduated must be recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). This verification will be carried out by the Graduate School.

*For applicants to the Master’s and PhD programs of the Department of Architecture, the portfolio and statement of purpose must be uploaded to the system during the application.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR FINAL REGISTRATION
Originals or notarized copies of all documents required at the application stage, or barcoded system printouts obtained from the e-government system, along with their photocopies.
Two (2) passport-size photographs (taken within the last six months)
National ID card or Turkish Republic ID card and its photocopy; passport and photocopy for international applicants
Military status document for male students

– Applicants are responsible for following all procedures related to the post-application process.

– No individual feedback is provided to applicants regarding the process.

– Applicants who fail to complete their final registration within the dates announced by the Graduate School cannot claim any rights.

– If applicants provide false information in the required documents or if any tampering is detected in the documents, their registration will not be completed even if they are announced as successful in the exam results.

– Registrations based on false or misleading information and documents will be cancelled when identified.

– The application follow-up of international applicants is carried out by the International Office Coordination Unit. The list of accepted applicants is then forwarded to our Graduate School for the interview exam.
