When is a thesis advisor assigned in the AGÜ Master's with Thesis program? When is the thesis topic determined?

In the Master's with Thesis program, the Department Graduate Education Committee (EADB) proposes a thesis advisor from the university faculty for each student by the end of the first semester at the latest. The thesis topic, determined jointly by the student and the advisor, must be proposed to the Graduate School by the end of the second semester at the latest. The thesis advisor and the thesis topic become official upon the approval of the Graduate School Executive Board.

When is a thesis advisor assigned in the PhD program? When are the thesis topic and title determined?

For each PhD student, the Department Graduate Education Committee (EADB) proposes a thesis advisor from the university faculty, as well as the thesis topic and title determined jointly by the student and the advisor. These must be submitted to the Graduate School and approved by the Graduate School Executive Board. The thesis advisor must be assigned by the end of the second semester at the latest. In PhD programs, in order to supervise a doctoral thesis, the faculty member must have previously supervised at least one successfully completed master's thesis.

Under what conditions is a second thesis advisor assigned, and who can be selected?
A second thesis advisor may be appointed when the nature of the thesis work requires more than one advisor. The second advisor can be selected from within or outside the university, provided that they hold a doctoral degree.
